Kingston Area Guide

Kingston's estate agents have the enviable task of selling a location with multiple appeal for commuters. Kingston is an area with plenty of green space, a vibrant nightlife and excellent shopping facilities all within easy reach of central London.

Property in Kingston is diverse. Houses tend to be mid-war terraces and semis with some Victorian and Edwardian homes near the town centre.

If you're looking for a Kingston apartment or flat, close to the Thames and town centre, there are numerous purpose built, new developments. West London living is available here with all the vibrancy of the centre of the city but at a much more affordable price. Fashionable new develpoments such as Charter Quay have sprung up along the river.

Coombe to the North East of the borough is the smartest neighbourhood of Kingston, particularly the Coombe Hill Estate.

Recently the area has seen an influx of new arrivals who have moved to Kingston because of the outstanding schools – many are in the top five league tables.

Kingston is the administrative centre of Surrey and is a historic market town steeped in history. In the tenth century seven kings were crowned on Kingston's Coronation Stone.

The thirteenth century market place is still a traditional working fruit and vegetable market. The surrounding buildings date back to the twelfth and sixteenth centuries and form a pleasant counterpoint to Eden Walk.

Shopping
Kingston is one of South London's major shopping destinations. The Eden Walk shopping centre has all the major high street chains including John Lews, and what you can't find there is located in the Bentalls Centre which includes a large Debenhams. The town is still home to many smaller, independent shops.

Cinemas, Restaurants and Cafes
Kingston has a wide variety of restaurants, pubs and cafes to accommodate all tastes. The Rotunda is a recent addition and houses a multiplex cinema, several restaurants, a gym and a bowling avenue.

Riverside
Since the building of the Charter Keys development the riverside has become the place to go for drink, or have a bite to eat at one of the many pubs or cafes and watch the ducks & swans.

Green spaces
One of the great benefits of living in Kingston is access to the green spaces. Richmond Park , Bushey Park and Hampton Court are all close to the town centre.

There are also lovely riverside walks along the Thames which will take you to Hampton Court, Richmond and Teddington, and boat trips for the less energetic!

Transport
London Waterloo is 35 minutes from Kingston train station.

The local road network, including the A3 allows easy access to Surrey and the South of England, and Heathrow and Gatwick airports.

There is also an extensive local bus network.
