Fulham Area Guide

Fulham, or Fullenham as it was originally known, is nestled in a loop of the River Thames and is just across the river from Putney, Barnes and Wandsworth.
Fulham was given to the Bishop of London in the late 7th Century where he resided in the Fulham Palace and its grounds. The Fulham Palace still stands to this day in all its splendour as a museum with the grounds split up into public allotments, elegant botanical gardens and the fantastic Riverside Park. In the 18th Century Fulham acquired the reputation as the "Las Vegas Retreat" for the wealthier of Londoners.
Today situated to the west of Chelsea and Kensington it continues to be a very trendy upmarket area of London, and with 60% of the properties in the area being flats it attracts a diverse of clientele from families to young professionals who find it perfect for working in the West End and City.
Fulham has many parks and open spaces of which, Bishop's Park, Fulham Palace Gardens, Hurlingham, South Park, Eel Brook Common and Parsons Green are the largest. South of the New King's Road and neighbouring the much sought after Peterborough Estates is the internationally renown Hurlingham Club, set in 42 acres of magnificent riverside grounds. This members club combines timeless elegance with up to date facilities for both sporting and social facilities.
Transport Links
Fulham sits on the district line in Zone 2, with tube stations Parsons Green, Fulham Broadway and Putney Bridge. It is only a 25 Minute journey to Central London.
Shopping
There are a number of boutique style shops in Fulham and it is a short bus ride to the eternally fashionable‘ Kings Road' in Chelsea which provides a very eclectic mix of high-class shopping. For more practical shopping, there are a number of major supermarkets, as well as an elaborate daily fruit market on the North end Road
Bars & Restaurants
Quintessential English Pubs and trendy bars simply litter the Fulham area. From expensive cocktail bars to traditional watering holes there is something for everyone. The pick of the best include The White Horse and Aragon House on Parsons Green, Rumi on the Kings Road, the Blue Elephant and the Farm on Fulham Broadway and Napule and Château 6 on the Fulham Road.
Schools
There are many schools in the area, mostly catering for the private sector and a particular abundance of nursery and prep schools.
