Chiswick Area Guide

Featherstone Leigh is the most vibrant and energetic of Chiswick's estate agents. The office handles properties in Chiswick, Bedford Park, Grove Park, Acton, Brentford, Shepherds Bush, Stamford Brook, Brook Green and Hammersmith.

Chiswick is an attractive suburb in West London and has long been the favoured dwelling of the middle classes. A number of celebrities including Phil Collins, Patsy Kensit, Dame Helen Mirren and Ant and Dec have called Chiswick home.

Victorian cottages, Edwardian terraces and grand mansion block apartments off the Chiswick High Road offer comfortable suburban living. Properties closer to the Thames tend to be larger whilst the Strand on the Green area is Chiswick's most sought after destination. This narrow picturesque walkway on the river, runs east from Kew Bridge with varied vintage houses along its length. It is popular with weekend strollers.

Chiswick has managed to maintain its cosmopolitan feel, yet is very convenient for both the centre of town and getting out of London to the West.

Chiswick is in the London Borough of Hounslow. It is the only area in Hounslow with a London postcode.

The area has Bedford Park to the North and a loop of the Thames to the South.

Shops
Chiswick has a wide range of shops from exclusive and fashionable boutiques and antique shops to all the usual high street shops.

Restaurants and Pubs
Chiswick has an excellent range of restaurants around Chiswick High Road as well as numerous stylish cafes. Five of Chiswick's restaurants are listed in the Which? Good Restaurant Guide including the renowned Sam's Brasserie. Also worth noting are the fine ales produced by the local Chiswick Brewery.

Transportation
Chiswick has two national rail lines – the North London Line, operated by Silverlink, which services Chiswick through the nearby Gunnersbury station, and the Hounslow Loop Line operated by South West Trains, which runs services into Chiswick station from the local area.

Chiswick is well served by the Underground with four stations (Turnham Green, Stamford Brook, Gunnersbury and Chiswick Park) operating on the District and Piccadilly lines.

Central London is very easy to get to with excellent road links.

Things to Do
Chiswick presents the best of both worlds; with ample green space and riverside walks alongside a busy high street full of shops, restaurants and bars. Take a stroll along Strand on the Green, visit the historic Chiswick House and spend time exploring the grounds or get some tasty treats from the farmer's market at Duke's Meadows. Visit one of the many health and sports clubs or have a splash at Chiswick swimming pool.

Schools
There are seven schools in Chiswick and many more in the surrounding areas. Belmont Primary is particularly popular and properties that fall into the catchment area are very sought after. Other schools include Southfield Primary, Strand on the Green Junior, Grove Park Primary, Cavendish School, The William Hogarth School and St Mary's School.
